Anna – 7 months old

Anna is such a delightful child. She smiles all day long, especially when she sees my face, when I call her name or when I kiss her. She laughes when I make some funny faces and noises.

She has started to do a lot of babbling, especially at the dinner time. Sometimes it sounds like she is telling a very interesting story.

Anna shows very clear delight on her face when she sees her mummy and daddy get close to her. She knows how to ask for being picked up by moving her hands and legs and making the ‘mmm’ sound from her throat.

When she was little, I could pass her to other people for a cuddle without hearing many complaints from her. Now she is no longer happy when she is held by people whom she doesn’t know.

Her hand coordination is becoming much better. She can grab objects near her very swiftly and accurately. She loves playing with her activity triangle, the building blocks and the  colourful balls. When I feed her, she plays with my lips, pokes my nose and grabs my glasses.

She seems to enjoy lying on her tummy much more. She only needs one hand to support herself while using the other hand to grab objects. She can also change her direction very swiftly if she finds something that interests her. She can move backwards by pushing her bottoms up in the air, even though it is still very slow movement.

We have started introducing solids. We gave her some of our food at the dinner time. She plays with them but hasn’t managed to put anything into her mouth yet. She eats mainly from the spoon or if I help her hold the food. She loves carrots, broccoli and potatoes. She also tried salmon, chicken, courgette, yoghurt and bread, but didn’t show any particular interest. She seems to hate avocados.
She has been taking vitamin supplements since 6 months. She often closes her mouth when the syringe gets near. But once it is in her mouth, she seems to be ok with it.

She had her first head injury. She fell over when she was sitting up and hit her head on the cupboard. We rushed to A&E, but luckily it was only a superficial wound. No stitches or glue were required.
